Applicant Requirements

Review of applications will begin on receipt and continue until suitable applicants are selected for positions beginning summer quarter (June) of the following year.

DVM from an AVMA-accredited institution is preferred. Application for acceptance into the OSU Graduate School is required. Only online applications are being accepted.

  • BS and/or DVM degree
  • 3.0 GPA for previous undergraduate/professional work
  • 3.3 GPA for previous graduate work
  • GRE general test is required
  • Academically eligible 2nd-, 3rd-, or 4th-year veterinary students enrolled

TOEFL is required for all international applicants from countries where the first language is not English, unless a degree was earned in an English-speaking country.

Applicants must also send official transcripts and GRE/TOEFL scores to the OSU Office of Graduate Admissions.

Academically eligible 2nd-, 3rd-, or 4th-year veterinary students enrolled the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine may apply to register concurrently in the Graduate School as Dual Degree students.

Applicant should have a faculty advisor before gaining official admission to the graduate program. Based on research interests, contact the appropriate graduate faculty directly.

Applications accepted for all four quarters. Deadlines for receipt of ALL application materials by the department are as follows:

  • Autumn Quarter: Domestic - August 15; International - July 1
  • Winter Quarter: Domestic - December 1; International - November 1
  • Spring Quarter: Domestic - March 1; International - February 1
  • Summer Quarter: Domestic - May 15; International - May 1
