Puppy Exam and Vaccinations

Puppy vaccination series starts at 7-8 weeks of age.

  • Your puppy
  • Any previous medical history, i.e. vaccines, deworming, etc.
  • Fecal sample less than 24 hours old

Exams will include

  • Complete physical exam
  • Educational puppy kit with Health/Vaccine Record along with tips on puppy care and behavioral concerns (1st exam)
  • Flea/tick control
  • Heartworm preventative
  • Fecal examination for intestinal parasites and appropriate deworming
  • Necessary vaccine boosters

Vaccination Schedule

  • DA2PP vaccination: (prevention of canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, canine adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza and parvovirus infections).
    • Administered every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age.
    • Dogs over 12 weeks of age with an unknown vaccination status will be given 2 vaccinations 3-4 weeks apart.
  • Rabies vaccination at 12 weeks of age or older.
  • Additional vaccines such as Leptospirosis, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) will be discussed with you to determine need and given on an "as-needed" basis.

Heartworm Prevention and Disease

  • We recommend monthly heartworm prevention year round along with testing at 7-8 months after initiating preventative and every 2 years thereafter.
