SSL

Secure Sockets Layer - a connection which encrypts data sent back and forth between the web browser and server

VPN

Virtual Private Network - a secure method of using public infrastructure (namely the internet) to provide remote access to an organization's network

Prerequisites

• Be sure your computer is MCSS compliant
  • University web site
  • College web resources
• Have an internet connection
• Have SSL-VPN permissions granted to your cvm user account (request through vishelp@cvm.osu.edu)

SSL-VPN

1. Open a web browser (preferably Internet Explorer, if applicable) to:

   https://cvmvpn.vet.ohio-state.edu

2. Enter your user name and CVM Network password and click Login

   Note: This name may be different from your normal login name. This name should be provided when the VPN access is established by the Help Desk.

3. From this point, file access will be similar to access via a fixed LAN
