Research

  • Veterinary college researchers developed the first feline leukemia vaccine, patented by Ohio State and licensed to Pfizer, Inc., and now routinely used worldwide
  • The college is the lead institution in the Center for Retrovirus Research
  • Faculty on the leading edge in the development of advanced orthopedic procedures, including fracture repair and arthroscopy in horses and total hip replacement in dogs
  • Faculty in the Adobe PDF File animal health group at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), in Wooster, OH, are recognized internationally for their work in infectious diseases
  • Faculty in the Department of Preventive Medicine are currently involved in several USDA-funded research projects, on food safety and avian influenza
  • Five faculty from the Department of Veterinary Biosciences received a $9.8 million Program Project Grant from the National Cancer Institute to study the role of viruses in cancer – one of the largest research grants at The Ohio State University
  • Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences was the recipient of the first University Departmental Teaching Award  
  • The college has two members of the National Academy of Sciences and five Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
