Hospital Tours

Interested in receiving a tour of the Veterinary Hospital at The Ohio State University? If so, you’re in the right place. Below you will find information on when tours are given, what you’ll see and how to schedule a tour.

Tour guides are members of the OSU Pre-Vet Club and are available to show your group through the Veterinary Hospital. Tours are usually given Saturday afternoons when the hospital is operating under emergency hours only—so that the atmosphere is less hectic.

On your tour you will be exposed to many aspects of veterinary medicine, including large and small animal facilities. You will see the small animal exam, treatment and surgery rooms, the small animal wards and a few other points of interest. Similar areas are presented in the large animal area of the hospital where you will also get to see the large animal radiology equipment and padded recovery stalls. In addition the tour includes a walk through the Daniel M. Galbreath Equine Trauma Center where horses are kept separate from the other large animals due to their increased susceptibility to post-operative infection.

All of this and more will be presented when you come for a tour of the Veterinary Hospital. For more information about the hospital in general, check out the Veterinary Hospital homepage. To schedule a tour of the hospital, contact Danielle Coggins or Krizia Melendez, OSU Pre-Vet Club Tour Guide Coordinator.

Are you a Pre-Vet Club member interested in giving tours? Serving as a tour guide is a great way to learn the layout of the hospital and help others gain an appreciation for what the OSU Veterinary Hospital has to offer. Tours are scheduled as needed so you won't have a set schedule but will be contacted when a tour guide is needed.

Once you contact the Tour Guide Coordinator (Danielle Coggins or Krizia Melendez) and sign up to be a tour guide, you will receive all of the relevant information needed to give a successful tour.
