History:
Tippy has been vomiting for the past 3 weeks. The vomitus is usually bile-stained with partially digested food. However, recently the owners noticed two times when there was a mixture of bright red blood and dark brown material. Tippy is otherwise bright and active and continues to have a good appetite. However, he has lost 10 lbs over the last month. Two weeks ago the owners switched him from dry kibble to a canned food but it made no difference in the vomiting. He was taken to the local veterinarian who performed routine blood work and a barium study, which were both reportedly normal. Tippy is confined to a fenced back yard. He loves to play with tennis balls (and can hold three of them in his mouth at one time). He sometimes chews on the childrens' toys that are left lying around and "Hulk Hogan's" head has been missing over the past month.
At this point, you would like to perform a physical exam and
run some diagnostic tests.
