History:

Beau presented to OSU for anorexia, lethargy, and abdominal distention noted over the past week. He vomited yesterday and the vomitus contained digested food with a dark, coffee-ground appearance. The owner also commented that the feces were normally formed but appeared black. Beau has no previous medical problems except for chronic otitis externa. Beau is current on vaccinations. He was last checked for heartworm (negative) in the spring and has been on Heartguard every year for the past 5 years. He is on no other medications. He currently eats Iams Maintenance diet.

At this point, you would like to perform a physical exam and run some diagnostic tests.
