History:
Sunshine has a three week history of coughing, lethargy, and depression. She was seen by the RDVM who found she had a fever of 104.5¼F. A heartworm microfilaria test was negative. Chest radiographs suggested pneumonia. Fecal flotation revealed whipworms and roundworms. Over the past three weeks she has been treated unsuccessfully with penicillin, SMZ-TMP, and chloramphenicol, yet her fever persists. Sunshine eats Purina Puppy chow and is current on vaccinations. She has been healthy until this month. She has never traveled outside of Ohio.
At this point, you would like to perform a physical exam and
run some diagnostic tests.
