Subject: Samantha 9 Month F-S- DSH

Problem: Progressive Abdominal Distention 3 Month duration

History: Samantha's early kittenhood was uneventful. She received routine vaccinations: FVRCPC at 4 wk intervals starting at 8 wks FeLV x3 starting at 12 wks. (addn'l. booster required) Rabies at 16 wks.

In September '93 (6 months of age) she began vomiting with total of 7-8 times over 2 days. At that time she was FeLV negative. PE abnormalities included painful abdomen, temp 102.5 with 5-7% dehydration. Abd. rads suspicious of foreign body .

Exploratory laparotomy revealed enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes, but was otherwise normal. Biopsy of mesenteric node taken. Routine spay/tendonectomy performed. Recovery uneventful and decreased episodes of vomiting during trial and error diet changes.

In December Samantha presented for abdominal distention and weight gain of 5.4# in 2.5 months. PE severe abd distention, resentful of abd palpation. Normal BM reported. Lab: FeLV, FIV, FIP all negative. Abd. Tap: non diagnostic. Radiographs enclosed. LN biopsy from 9/94 sent for histopath. Path report enclosed.

Mid January owner reported decreased BM and increased urinations. Referral to OSU.

Please advise of your opinion on this case.

Sincerely,

Ann M. Reynolds, D.V.M
